I really do hate being cold. Thank goodness my bedroom is the warmest room in the house. Tuesday night we got at least 3" of snow. No big deal to us seasoned Michigan drivers, right? Wrong! Not only were the roads not getting cleared because the snow was so powdery it blew right back onto the roads, but the salt wasn't working in our fabulous 9 degree weather on Wed. morning. I have the unfortunate pleasure of having a 9:20am class. I left at 8:30 hoping I would be able to be in class early. I ended up being late because it took me an hour to drive to school. It was ridiculous how slow everyone was driving. But it was also good. There were patches of black ice everywhere. I now firmly believe I have guardian angels watching over me. I ended up hitting a patch of this ice on square lake road's ramp to I-75. I not only fish tailed but also ended up spinning around three times. All I saw were cars trying to avoid me. No one ended up hitting anyone else but I stopped facing sideways and only inches from my rear bumper hitting the guard rail on the ramp. Needless to say I was shaken to the core. The rest of the drive was uneventful but the weather just turned messier before it turned better. I have been crazing the warm sun of Florida since these wonderful highs of 12 or lower. Snow storms, rain storms, freezing winds, extreme colds, and fog making it impossible to see 2 feet in front of you. All in all, I have not been a very happy girl.
On the plus side, I have finally submitted my application to go to Italy for 12 weeks in Sept. I can only wait to hear if I am accepted into the program.
